Google Ads & SEO

Google Ads or SEO – when does each pay off?

The fast route or the lasting one: when ads are the right choice, when SEO is – and why in practice it is rarely an either-or.

Google Ads pay off instead of SEO when you need enquiries right away: ads sit above the organic results within a few days, while SEO usually takes three to six months before it has a noticeable effect. SEO pays off once you want to stay visible for the long run – ongoing support at Floxa costs from 850 euros a month and keeps working, whereas ads only work for as long as you pay for every click. In practice it is rarely an either-or: businesses that are just starting out often run ads for the immediate need and build SEO in parallel, so the ads can later hand over part of the enquiries.

Ads: visible immediately

A campaign sits at the top of the results within a few days. The price for that: visibility ends the moment the budget ends.

SEO: it stays

SEO takes three to six months to take hold – then it brings enquiries without you paying per click. The effect lasts, even if you lower the budget.

Strongest together

Ads for quick capacity, SEO building in parallel: once organic visibility takes over part of the enquiries, the ad budget can fall rather than rise.

When Google Ads are the better choice

Google Ads pay off whenever timing matters more than permanence. Specifically: when you are starting out and have no organic visibility yet, when you are promoting a time-limited offer, when you want to test a new location or a new service, or when your order book drops sharply and you need to react fast.

In all of these cases the advantage is the same: ads are at the top within a few days, and you can turn the budget up or down at any time. For a local business, an ad budget of 500 to 1,500 euros a month is a realistic starting point – below that, Google gets too few clicks to learn which enquiries are worth something.

When SEO pays off more

SEO pays off once you want to be found for the long run instead of paying for every click. If you serve the same search terms month after month – say “electrician Ludwigsburg” or “tax advisor Waiblingen” – ads charge you for each of those clicks anew; with SEO the same position becomes, over time, an asset that keeps carrying.

The maths shifts with the timeframe. At the start, ads are cheaper because they work immediately and SEO delivers nothing yet. After a few months it reverses: organic visibility is in place, while the ad costs money again every month. That makes SEO the better choice when you want to stay visible in a location for the long term – and the worse one when you need orders as early as next week.

What Google Ads cost at Floxa – and what SEO costs

With Google Ads you pay three things separately: the one-off setup (750 euros), the ongoing management (from 490 euros a month, as long as your ad budget is up to 2,000 euros) and the ad budget itself, which goes straight to Google and does not run through us. SEO costs from 850 euros a month for a standard website, with no separate click budget.

The difference at heart: with ads you pay for every visitor for as long as the campaign runs. With SEO you pay for the work on your visibility – and that remains if you one day end the support. Both routes are cancellable monthly with us.

The most common mistake: ads do not improve SEO

Running ads does not lift your organic positions – at Google these are two separate systems. Anyone who thinks they can buy their way up into the free results with enough ad budget is spending money on an effect that does not exist in that form.

The reverse holds just as much: good organic visibility does not automatically lower your click prices. What connects the two is not a technical effect but your website and your offer – if both are tested and improved through ads, the organic side ultimately benefits too, because the same pages then convince more people.

What we do not promise

We name no guaranteed number of enquiries and no fixed figure for the cost per enquiry before we have tested your market. Both depend on your competition, your website and your offer – anyone who guarantees that in advance is guessing.

What we do commit to: we tell you honestly before the start which route fits your situation. If the maths for ads does not work out, we recommend SEO or a better website – and the other way round. Floxa is a young, small agency; we gain nothing from selling you the more expensive route rather than the right one.

Common questions

Which is faster, Google Ads or SEO?

Google Ads. A campaign can be at the top within a few days, while SEO usually takes three to six months before it noticeably brings enquiries. If you need orders in the short term, ads are the right route.

Which is cheaper in the long run?

SEO, once it takes hold. With ads you pay for every click for as long as the campaign runs; with SEO a position you reach becomes an asset that keeps working, without money flowing per visitor. In the first few months ads are cheaper, after that the maths reverses.

Can I not just run ads only?

Yes, but you are then renting visibility permanently. The moment you switch off the budget, you are gone. Ads-only is therefore sensible for a time-limited purpose, but expensive if it stays the only source of enquiries.

Do Google Ads improve my Google ranking?

No. Ads and organic results are two separate systems; ad budget does not lift your free positions. Anyone running ads for ranking effects is paying for something that does not exist.

How much ad budget do I need for Google Ads?

For a local business, 500 to 1,500 euros a month is a realistic starting point. Below that, Google gets too few clicks to optimise the campaign sensibly. You pay the budget directly to Google; management starts with us from 490 euros a month.

What does SEO cost in comparison?

Ongoing SEO support starts at Floxa from 850 euros a month for a standard website – with no separate click budget. Larger websites with several locations start from 1,200 euros. Unlike ads, here you pay for the work on your visibility, not for every single visitor.

Should I do both at the same time?

For most new businesses this is the most sensible route: ads provide capacity immediately, SEO builds in parallel. Once organic visibility takes over part of the enquiries after a few months, the ad budget can fall rather than rise.

How do I tell that ads are not worth it for me?

If your offer is only rarely searched for, or a single enquiry is worth little to you, the maths for ads often does not work out. Before the start we check what a click costs in your sector and how many enquiries are realistic at your budget – and we say no if it does not carry itself.
