How long does local SEO take to work?
First movement after four to six weeks, noticeable results after three to six months. What happens in which month — and how to see progress before then.
5.0 on GoogleReal client projects from the region
Local SEO usually shows first movement after four to six weeks, and noticeable results — more enquiries, not just better positions — after three to six months. Where there is little competition for the search terms, for example in Kornwestheim, Waiblingen or Remseck, three months is realistic; in Stuttgart it is closer to six, because people have been working on the same search terms there for years. We do not name a fixed date: when Google re-evaluates a change is Google's call, not ours — instead we tell you in advance what happens in which month.
First movement: 4–6 weeks
Technical fixes and a well-maintained Google Business Profile take effect first. You see it in impressions and search queries before the number of enquiries goes up.
Noticeable results: 3–6 months
From here on, enquiries arrive that did not arrive before. Where exactly you land in that range depends on local competition, the state of your website and how much content has to be written from scratch.
No promised date
Google decides the timing. What we commit to is the work: which tasks happen in which month — not the day a particular position is reached.

What happens in which month
Week 1 is the analysis: website, visibility and local competition. Weeks 1 to 2 bring the roadmap with a prioritised order, and from week 2 the work starts — loading time, structure and indexing first, then the pages your customers actually search for.
Months 1 and 2 are foundation work: technical errors removed, the Google Business Profile complete and maintained, your most important pages reworked, name, address and phone number identical everywhere. In this phase your enquiries usually do not change yet — in Search Console they often do: more impressions, more search queries you appear for at all.
Months 3 to 6 are when visibility usually turns into enquiries. The pages for your services and locations exist, they are linked, and Google has re-evaluated them several times. From here we work on your lead rather than on the foundation: a report every month, and adjustments where the numbers show the greatest leverage.
Why local SEO cannot go faster
Three reasons, and none of them can be bought away with a bigger budget. First, Google has to crawl and re-evaluate every change — that does not happen on the day the work is done, and it happens less often on a small, new website than on a large, established one. Second, content is not produced at the push of a button: a page that genuinely answers one service in one location has to be written, built in and linked, and you need several of them.
Third, local visibility is a comparison, not an exam. You do not pass at a certain score; you move past the businesses ranking ahead of you. Anyone who has been working on that for years holds a lead that cannot be closed in weeks.
That is why a quote with a date on it is a warning sign. Someone who tells you that you will be number one in eight weeks is telling you about their sales pitch, not about Google.
What shortens the timeline — and what stretches it
It goes faster when the basics are in place: a technically healthy website, an existing Google Business Profile, texts and images ready, a location with manageable competition, and one service rather than eight. Under those conditions, three months is within reach.
It takes longer with a website that has to be repaired first, with a relaunch in the middle of the engagement, with several locations and services — every combination needs its own page — and for search terms people have been working on in Stuttgart for years. Missing access costs time too: without Search Console and the Business Profile we are working blind until both are set up.
What does not shorten the timeline is a higher monthly budget on its own. More budget buys more work per month — more pages, more content, faster delivery. It does not buy a faster re-evaluation by Google.
How to tell it is working before month three
By four intermediate signals that arrive before the enquiries do. First: impressions in Search Console — how many search queries you are shown for at all. Second: how many of your pages are indexed. Third: calls, direction requests and website clicks in your Google Business Profile. Fourth: positions that move, even when they do not bring clicks yet.
A jump from position 40 to 15 will not bring you a single call. It is, however, proof that Google has registered the work — and the way from 15 to the first page is considerably shorter than the way from 40.
That is why every monthly report says what moved, not only what was done. You can see every hour of work in the client portal. It is the only way to check a monthly invoice whose result only becomes visible months later.
Why it takes longer in Stuttgart than in Remseck or Kornwestheim
Because the timeline depends on competition, not on distance. In Stuttgart you compete for search terms that agencies and in-house teams have been working on for years — six months is the realistic assumption there. In Kornwestheim, Waiblingen or Remseck am Neckar fewer people search, but fewer businesses there work seriously on their local visibility; the first page is often reached sooner.
The same holds within a single city. "Dentist Stuttgart" is a different race from "orthodontics Stuttgart-Vaihingen". Starting with the narrower term produces results sooner — and you work your way up from there instead of running at the hardest term for six months.
Which timeline applies in your case is something we say after the free analysis. Any number before that would be a guess.
If you need work coming in sooner
Then Google Ads is the better tool: visibility from day one, and reliable figures on cost per enquiry after roughly four to six weeks. The catch is always the same — visibility ends when the budget ends. SEO takes longer but keeps working afterwards, without you paying per click.
In many cases the combination is the honest answer: Ads for the first months, while SEO is not delivering yet, and SEO for the time after that. In the first conversation we also say when only one of the two makes sense in your case.
On timing we commit to exactly two things: which tasks happen in which month, and that you can follow them in the client portal. No position, no date, no guaranteed number of enquiries — Google decides positions. The engagement is cancellable monthly: if nothing is visibly moving after three months, you stop at the end of the month. Floxa is a young, small company from Remseck am Neckar; keeping the pressure on our side is deliberate.

Common questions
How long does local SEO take to work?
First movement usually after four to six weeks, noticeable results after three to six months. In places with little competition, expect the lower end of that range; in Stuttgart, the upper end.
How do I see in the first weeks that something is happening?
Through impressions in Search Console, the number of indexed pages, and calls and direction requests in your Google Business Profile. These figures move before the number of enquiries goes up.
Why do you not name a fixed date?
Because the timing depends on Google and on the competition, and is not in our hands. What we can commit to is the work: which tasks happen in which month, traceable in the client portal and in the monthly report.
Does a higher budget make it faster?
Only up to a point. More budget buys more work per month — more pages, more content, faster delivery. It does not buy a faster re-evaluation by Google, and that is the real time factor.
Does it take longer with a brand-new website?
Usually yes. A new domain is crawled less often and has no history for Google to go by. On the other hand, the repair phase falls away when the website was built with an SEO foundation from the start.
How quickly does the Google Business Profile take effect?
Considerably faster than the website, because the details sit in the profile itself and do not have to be crawled first. A complete, well-maintained profile is the part of local SEO with the shortest path to the first call.
Do I have to commit for six months?
No. The engagement is cancellable monthly and there is no minimum term. Three to six months is the period in which results usually become visible — it is not a contract length.
What happens if I stop after three months?
The work done so far stays on your website and keeps working, but gradually loses its lead, because Google keeps re-evaluating and your competitors keep going. Unlike Google Ads, visibility does not end on the day you cancel.
